Our Range of Treatments
You don’t have to go to Harley Street. We offer the full range of treatments which you expect to find in a leading Aesthetic Dentistry or Cosmetic Dentistry Practice, right here in Swindon. These treatments include white fillings, tooth lightening, veneers, crowns, bridges, and implants.
What is the difference between cosmetic dentistry and aesthetic dentistry?
You will see us referring to cosmetic dentistry and also to aesthetic dentistry. These are two subtly different approaches to the appearance. The essence is with cosmetic dentistry we try to make the teeth look perfect; straight, white, even and blemish free. This is what many people call the ‘Hollywood Smile’.
With aesthetic dentistry we aim to create a beautiful smile that still retains many of the elements which make it look natural, slight irregularities, the teeth being slightly crooked, and fresh whiteness.
Is either approach right or wrong…? We think that different approaches suit different people and so we spend time making sure we understand which approach is suitable for each patient.

What can we do to give you a smile on your face?
Before we start any treatment we need to know where we are going. We do this in several ways
Cosmetic Dentistry and Aesthetic Dentistry Imaging.
We can take a photograph of your current smile, e-mail it to the specialist cosmetic dentistry imaging company in the United States who produce what is in effect a digital artist’s impression of how the teeth could look. This virtual cosmetic dentistry is then e-mailed back to us in Swindon, and we can discuss how we can achieve the results.

We also use our technician here in Swindon to help us visualise either the cosmetic dentistry or aesthetic dentistry results we wish for. To do this we make a model of your teeth, and then add wax to see what is possible.
Trial Smiles
In some situations, especially where we are building up broken down teeth, or closing gaps, we can actually try in the proposed changes. This helps you to see exactly what benefits you could gain from cosmetic or aesthetic dentistry.

Dental veneers, also known as laminate veneers, or porcelain veneers, are one of the cornerstones of modern cosmetic dentistry. They allow us to correct the shape, close gaps and alter the colour of teeth, and all with a minimal amount of drilling to the teeth.
Dental Veneers are thin ‘wafers’ of hand crafted porcelain which are bonded to the tooth with adhesives. Once bonded they are exceptionally strong, and offer a good life expectancy with most studies showing that over 90% of veneers are still looking good and lasting well after 10 years.

This shows just how natural two veneers on the front teeth can look |
|
What does a veneer involve?
|
This picture shows two dental veneers which were placed at another practice. The patient was unsatisfied with them. We have much experience in correcting dental veneer issues, and were happy to improve the situation |
|
|
The old dental veneers were removed, and we then refine the preparations.
We then take impressions which are sent to the dental technician |
|
This shows just how delicate the veneers are, almost like porcelain finger nails |
The porcelain dental veneers are then cemented to the teeth, recreating the dental aesthetics, or cosmetics which you desire.
The difference is clear to see.
Case Two
In this case we had to deal with a tooth that had changed colour following a knock several years ago. As the tooth was still alive, and also due to time constraints we decided that a dental veneer was the best solution.
The tooth was prepared, impressions taken, and again a porcelain dental veneer was made. The technician builds all the delicate colours needed to recreate the natural dental cosmetics.
These pictures show the dramatic improvement that we can make with such a simple, painless and predictable technique.

In modern cosmetic or aesthetic dentistry although we have treatments such as tooth lightening, white fillings and porcelain veneers which can help us improve your teeth’s appearance with minimal removal of tooth structure, crowns, or caps, remain one of the cornerstones of cosmetic dentistry.
We typically use crowns either if the teeth are broken down, or if we need to change the shape more than we can with dental veneers or white fillings.
Clinical Director, Dr Patrick Holmes carries out the cosmetic dentistry at Seven Fields. He is the only cosmetic dentist in Swindon to be a Full Member of the prestigious British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and his experience of advanced cosmetic dental techniques allows you to achieve the smile you have always dreamt of.

Below is a selection of dental crown work to show you what we could do for you.
All the cases below were carried out by cosmetic dentist, Dr. Patrick Holmes, at Seven Fields Dental Health Centre, Swindon, Wiltshire.
In this case you can see four crowded teeth, which were also quite dark. The other option here would have been a brace, but this would have required removing four healthy teeth. Two weeks later we had a finished result
This case shows the opposite; spaced teeth. We prepared the front four teeth and place all ceramic dental crowns
This case shows dental crowns being used to re-build teeth broken through decay. It demonstrates the dramatic difference cosmetic dental crown work can make to your appearance.
We also get involved in correcting problems where the previous work is not what you would hope for. In this case we needed to correct both gum and crown issues.
We also frequently need to address root canal and implant needs.
This is where having endodontists, periodontists, an implantologist, an oral surgeon, and of course a cosmetic dentist, all able to provide advance care within their field, makes us unique in Swindon.
This helps you get the result you wish for, all in one familiar setting, with each dentist working within one team in order to get the best results available.
How do we get these results for you?
We delight in our attention to detail, nearly twenty years of experience, and thousands of hours of post-graduate study in the field. We also have the back-up of an exceptional technician.
Below is a typical case, showing the steps we take to ensure you get the smile you dreamed of.
Perhaps the most important aspect of any dental treatment is the assessment and planning. We analyse exactly what is missing from your smile, to make certain that during the treatment all the details are covered.
This patient was concerned that their teeth protruded, as can be seen from the before picture. We took impressions to make a model of the existing teeth.
A computer simulation, and a 3-D mock up were performed to make certain that the final result was what the patient wanted.
With this case we expected to need to crown the front two teeth, and possibly the front four. We decided to see what result could be achieved with just the two front teeth being reduced.
After preparing the two front teeth, we make temporary crowns. We make sure that this are well fitting to make sure your gums stay healthy, and even more importantly we make sure that you go out presentable.
This picture shows the temporary crowns that the patient wore for two weeks
Our technician made two provisional crowns.
Provisional Crowns
Provisional crowns are an interim stage which we frequently use when we either need to assess the aesthetics or when we need to allow for healing, typically when we have treated gum disease.
We assessed the aesthetics over a period of a few weeks, and the patient decided that, although the result was an improvement, the simulated results with the 3-D mock up and the photograph involving all four teeth was better. This re-emphasis just how important it is to have this information available. Knowing what could be achieved allowed us to work towards an even better result.
By examining the mock-ups we decided to veneer the two side teeth. This results in the least damage to these teeth possible.
The model shows the final preparations of the teeth. It also shows a comparison between the preparation for a dental veneer and for a dental crown.
The patient visited the technician to allow for the most natural shade and shapes to be determined, and the two dental crowns, and two dental veneers were made.
The final results show well fitting crowns which blend in with the rest of the mouth.
To give an example of the level of detail involved, we finished the edges of the crown
margins off under a microscope. This allows us to get the fit correct, however the
aesthetic results obtained were as a result of the careful planning and discussions with
the patient, before we started.

Tooth Lightening at Seven Fields Dental Health Centre, Swindon
Most of us have some vices, which, while not damaging the teeth, might discolour them. Innocent past-times such as tea, coffee, red wine, cigarettes, curries, etc, can all cause teeth to become darker. It may even be that your teeth are naturally dark
Tooth lightening, tooth whitening, or dental bleaching, is one of the most popular cosmetic or aesthetic dental procedures, because it gives you a simple, cost effective, and involves no drilling or altering the teeth at all. This makes it an ideal cosmetic dental treatment.
There are two methods of tooth lightening
At Home Tooth Lightening
The most popular is to have very delicate trays made which fit over your teeth. Gel is placed inside these trays, which you wear for between two and four hours a day. Normally you do this at night. The teeth lighten over a period of typically ten days. When the tooth whitening is completed, the trays and the remaining gel can be kept, and the lightening can be topped up later if it needs to be.
With some practices charging as much as £700 for tooth lightening in Swindon, many people are turning to the internet for tooth lightening and we have seen many cases of damage to gums from unregulated gels or poorly fitted tooth lightening trays. To stop people having to risk their teeth and gums, we have slashed our price for tooth whitening to just £250
What does tooth lightening involve?
First we get impressions of you teeth, to allow us to make you comfortable, delicate tooth lightening trays
It takes just one week to have your custom tooth lightening trays made, and at the second appointment we check the fitting of the trays, and show you how to use the gel.
The gel is placed in the trays either during the day, or more commonly at night. After several applications the teeth should be lighter. The result that can be obtained are seen below

These are the teeth of our Clinical Director, Dr. Patrick Holmes, so you can see at first hand the results which can be achieved with simple tooth lightening.
In Surgery Tooth Lightening
We have the latest ultrasonic tooth lightening equipment. With this technology your tooth lightening is performed in the dental chair with ultrasonics, to speed up the procedure. We also make you the tooth lightening trays so that we can fine tune the result.
If you are wonder which is best, it has been shown that either technique gives the same result.
Internal Tooth Lightening
Many teeth which either need or have been root treated darken. Our endodontist can us special tooth lightening techniques to help tackle these teeth. In many situations allow us to correct issues that might have otherwise needed crown work.
Questions about tooth lightening.
How long do I need to wear the trays?
The typical course of treatment involves you wearing the trays either at night or for two hours during the day. For most people doing this 6-8 times is enough. The response does depend on how dark your teeth are naturally, how stained they are, and how light you want them.
How long do the results last for?
Most patients find that perhaps six months later their teeth are not quite as light, and that they need topped up. Rather than the full 6-8 applications, the top up may need one or two applications. Typically patients have enough gel left to top up once or twice. If you need more gel you can get it from us. A pack of four syringes is approximately £50, and should keep you going for a further two years.
Does it make my teeth sensitive?
About one third of patients notice a mild sensitivity. All that is needed is to stop for a couple of days to allow the teeth to settle, and then you can start again. This usually does not happen until the fifth or sixth application, so frequently the teeth are already white enough already.
Is it suitable for everybody?
Most teeth will lighten very well, but existing crown work or fillings will stay the same colour. We will always point this out, and many times we will even use tooth lightening before we replace crowns, to allow a really fresh looking result.
Does it damage the teeth?
As you would expect, we use only recommended products on the teeth. A study showed that if you perform thirty applications there is less effect to the teeth than drinking one tin of fizzy drinks. |
